Community Housing Subcommittee (CHSC)
By working with local government and our collaborative partners, the CHSC promotes neighborhood revitalization, assist residents in accessing needed affordable housing and enables low and moderate income families to achieve their home ownership goals by providing housing education and access to financial programs for homebuyers.
The CHSC engages community members in a community conversation about problems and solutions that affect them in one of the fundamental principles of livability - adequate and affordable housing. The CHSC relies on a work plan that carries out the Committee’s charge through a three step process that includes:
- Internal and External Assessment
- Support Strategy Solutions and
- Recommendations and Implementation Plan.
In 2005, the CHSC prepared a report entitled "Bridging the Gap: Regional Housing Needs Assessment and Strategic Planning" and a document
entitled Housing Policies and Local Initiatives: Locally Sponsored Recommendations to Increase the Supply of Workforce Housing, which the
Council will discuss in 2006.
Members of the subcommittee working group include Council members, affordable housing professionals, consumers of housing program services, and a representative of the Florida Department of Community Affairs. Staff members from the Council are participating in the work group, as well.
